What is an Investor Visa?

An Investor Visa allows foreign nationals to enter and stay in a country to invest in a business, typically in exchange for legal residence or citizenship. It is designed for individuals looking to grow or start businesses in the host country.

Eligibility varies by country, but generally, investors must demonstrate a minimum investment amount, a proven business plan, and the ability to create jobs or stimulate the economy. Proof of financial resources and a clean background check are often required.

The investment threshold differs depending on the country and its visa program. For example, the U.S. EB-5 Investor Visa requires a minimum of $1 million, while some countries may offer lower investment requirements. Check specific country guidelines for exact amounts.

Typically, eligible businesses are those that can create jobs, stimulate economic growth, or contribute to specific industries. This can include new startups, existing businesses, or ventures that meet the country’s investment criteria.

In many countries, investor visa holders can bring their immediate family members (spouse and children) as dependents. However, each country’s policies regarding dependents may differ, so it’s important to check the specifics of the visa program.
